BIG data

Interesting report : BIG data. (may last year, McKinsey Global Institute). See
Interesting sections are on page 5, which is about creating values. I would like to HIGHlight the section about "replacing/supproting human decision making with automated algortihms" and "innovating new business models, products, and services". I think these really mark an interesting application area of knowledge and technologies that have been developed recently (last 10-20 years).Page 27-36 give an overview of some of these techniques. It is here where the domains of Machine Learning and IT technology do really overlap and enforce each other.

ps: page 92 shows that even (daily) shopping becomes more interesting... For clothing shops I think that putting this on big-live screens, might make shopping even interesting for men that accompany their lovely wives on a saturday afternoon... :)
