Computer science meets Energy Sustainability

Computer Science meets Energy Sustainability

Data centers will continue to grow in size and number. The rise of technologies and applications in the fields of Big data and Internet of Things causes an explosive growth of data that needs to be stored and processed inside data centers.

Today’s challenges on environmental sustainability and energy transition demand a strong need to further improve on the energy efficiency of data centers.

In the last decade, a lot of successful initiatives already have been taken place, e.g. on the level of infrastructure and cooling. Recent activities try to take these so called -green-IT-initiative to the next level: add energy awareness on the level of software.

These initiatives seriously caught my interests. I am trying to find a way to contribute them in such a way that I can further bridge academia with industrial worlds.

It is here where computer science meets the energy sustainability challenge.

This not only contributes to environmental sustainability, but also opens up new business opportunities.
